The Temple House launching Festive Seasonal Celebrations with Sustainability Theme

(Chengdu, 30 Nov 2017)  In alignment with Swire Hotels’ vision, The Temple House has prepared a series of seasonal celebrations and festive decorations, with sustainability theme. This year, The Festive House presents a White Christmas with whimsical and magical elements. Natural and reusable materials are mostly used as festive decorations. The Christmas tree located in the courtyard of The Temple House, is composed by 7000 recycled aluminum shells of used tea-light candles, collected from Daci Temple. And the metal structure of the Christmas Tree is reused this year, and for many more years to come. Christmas Bazaar was hosted in the afternoon of the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, and all the proceeds are to support local non-profit projects. Local artists were commissioned to create murals on wall panels, as a creative way to introducing seven Swire Hotels to the audiences.

Going forward, The Temple House will keep celebrating festive seasons with “sustainability” and “community” in mind.

Sustainable Christmas tree lighting ceremony

The tree-lighting ceremony was held in the evening of 25th November. Prestige guests, including government officials, the media and the Abbot of Daci Temple, were invited to celebrate the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. The night was warmed up with the performances of Woo Zeal Acappella Choir, the children of Soong Ching Ling International Kindergarten, as well as The Temple House’s very own talented staffs.

The centerpiece of the evening, the 2017 Sustainable Christmas Tree, was made by using 7000 aluminum shells of used tea-light candles, collected from Daci Temple in Sino Ocean TaikooLi. Through this collaboration, community relationship was enhanced, as well as the awareness of surrounding cultural heritage and architecture was being cultivated.

Christmas Bazaar

Traditional and nostalgic seasonal treats and beverages could be found at the Christmas Bazaar. All the proceeds are to support local non-profit projects, such as Rotary Club Chengdu and YMCA’s “Summer Camp for Left Behind Children,” and Chengdu Bear Rescue Centre.

Local Artists Commissioned to introduce Swire Hotels via Murals

Following last year’s success with showcasing the “Golden Monkey Sculpture” by Australian artist Lisa Roet, The Temple House is in collaboration this year with Chengdu-based young artists, to create three murals outside of MIXUN Spa, The Temple Café, and JING bar, as a creative way to introducing all seven Swire Hotels to the audiences. All murals are themed with holiday components, local elements, as well as The House Collective (The Opposite House, The Upper House, The Temple House and The Middle House) and EAST series (East Beijing, East Hong Kong, and East Miami). These murals are also to celebrating the soon opening of The Middle House in March, 2018.
